We have a 9 month old in the hizzyyyy! When did this happen?!?
Stats:
Well... we went to the doctor on October 31. Lexi lost weight since her 6 month but the doctor isn't concerned at all! She says it's common to see this in breastfed babies once they start crawling to lose weight because they are so busy! Lexi weighs 13.14 pounds and is 25 inches long and her head is 17 inches around.
Reflux:
Still on the medicine... still doing great! In the past week she has hardly spit up at all!
Eating:
She is such a great eater! She nurses about 5-6 times a day still (I don't want to drop any feedings yet although I think she would be fine with 4-5 a day). I'm still nursing her so that she can continue to gain weight.
She is eating solid food 2-3 times a day now. She has eaten TONS of new foods! She has eaten apricot, spinach, green beans, peas, avocado, carrots, lima beans, puffs, chicken, cherries, mixed berries, sweet potatoes, corn, strawberry, granola. We've done a mixture of homemade and store bought foods. I just made a larger batch of pureed foods to use over the next month or so.
Her favorites are still pears, prunes and squash. She does NOT like: peas, chicken (from a jar- ew) and avocado (maybe this one will grow on her!)
She can now eat puffs with her hands and not act like she's choking- haha. She is eating more textured foods and we're probably going to start giving her soft chunks of food to feed herself soon.
Napping/Sleeping:
She has been a pretty good sleeper still this month. Some naps have shortened and it's a good day if she naps over an hour both times but she still does pretty good going down. She is still going down around 7:30 but now she's waking up around 4:30 and eating then waking up around 7:15-7:45 in the morning. Anyone have ideas on how to get them to drop that last feeding? We let her cry for like an hour the other night and she would go back to sleep just to wake up 5 min later and cry again. It's not really all that bad waking up just once but I'd love to have some consecutive full nights of sleep.
Clothing:
Mainly 9 month but the sleeves on 9 month are super long on her and same with pants. We still have a handful of 6 month clothing she's wearing including onesies she wears pretty much everyday.
Things she's loving:
-Her stuffed animals
-When Dada comes home for lunch :)
-Food!
-Crawling towards anything she's not supposed to have... cords, remotes, etc.
-Peek-a-boo
-Music (still) if she hears music on the T.V. she turns to look at it
Things she's not loving are still the same!
Firsts this month:
-Legit crawling! Finally! She has army crawled for a while and just before she turned 9 months she started crawling the correct way and mostly crawls that way all the time now.
-Can raise her arms and signal TOUCHDOWN! But... not on command.
-She can stand on her own but mostly still needs assistance to get up
-She can pull up to her knees and is trying hard to get past that and if we give her a little push she can stand up
-She gives big, slobbery, open-mouth kisses and we love it! We say "give mama a kiss" or "give dada a kiss" or "give the giraffe a kiss" and she does! Cutest.thing.ever.
We're working on:
-Saying and waving bye-bye and saying ball
-Sign language for "more" and "finished" when eating
-Teaching patience when we get out of the bathtub because she gets mad when we lay her down to put a diaper and clothes on her (I see tantrums in our future....)
-Being ok when Mommy and Daddy leave the room. Sometimes she is ok and sometimes she cries immediately.
-Getting the hang of drinking from a sippy cup
Little extras:
-She smiles or giggles after she sneezes
-She thinks it's funny when we blow our noses and gives a smile or giggle for that too
-I was in the nursery with her this past Sunday and she was in the exersaucer and doing just fine and I was holding a baby that was about 7 weeks old and about to change his diaper and when I walked over to do that she started crying... like full on tears, sniffles, the works. She would not stop until I held her. Needless to say she is not ready to share the attention with a little brother or sister- haha.
We sure do love this sweet mannered little girl! She brings us so much joy!
Here are some iphone pictures from the past month...
